Built in 1280 as one of the first examples of civil building, the "Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo" is a symbol of the city. There are 43 rooms, 8 junior suites and 1 large romantic suite on the top floor with a mansard roof and a charming roof terrace. Most of the rooms face Piazza Grande with the Town Hall, the Duomo (Cathedral), Baptistery, the "Palazzo del Monte" and the "Palazzo delle Notarie".
