Grand Hotel Cocumella was built in the 16th century as a Jesuit monastery and became a hotel in 1822. It stands in parkland that stretches down to the sea with panoramic views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The hotel has 50 elegant air-conditioned bedrooms and suites charmingly furnished with antiques, most bathrooms are decorated in Italian marble, and some have Jacuzzi. Each room is equipped with air-conditioning, satellite TV, direct dial phone, fireplace, hairdryer, mini-bar, and safety deposit box. Special features range from a seaside solarium and a private chapel for concerts, to Cocumella's own tall ship 'Vera', built in 1880 and used for day cruises along the Amalfi Coast and to Capri. The graceful Scintilla restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine accompanied by many fine wines, in a romantic setting overlooking the park while, in summer, the Agrumeto presents a relaxed barbecue lunch under the shade of orange trees by the pool. As generations of travelers have discovered, this peaceful spot is the perfect seaside escape. Guest can also enjoy the amenities of an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, water skiing, windsurfing, fitness center, gym, massage, private boat, sauna, business center, and access for the disabled. Dogs and cats are allowed. A car park is available at the hotel. The hotel accepts major credit cards.
